How does the age of a Markham home change the clean?

Markham was farm country with a few mill villages until the 1970s, so the same city holds mid-1800s farmhouses and townhouses built this century. Tell us your neighbourhood when you ask for a quote and the number starts closer to right.

Founded 1794 Main Street Unionville and the streets around Toogood Pond A heritage district of 210 properties. Old floors and painted trim take hand work and very little water.
A mill on the Rouge from 1809 Markham Village on Main Street, with Vinegar Hill and Mount Joy Victorian and farmhouse-style homes, plus Vinegar Hill houses built from 1940 to 1970. Tell us the age of the floors.
Built from the 1970s to the late 1980s Milliken Mills, north of Steeles Two-storey detached houses with garages. Bathrooms and a finished basement set the time, so tell us both.
Begun in the 1990s South Unionville, between Highway 7 and Highway 407 Family homes from the 1990s on. A first deep clean resets grout and baseboards.
Since 1997 and 2006 Cornell, and Cathedraltown north of Major Mackenzie Cornell mixes townhouses, semis and detached homes, most with garages at the back. Tell us which door the crew should use.

Heritage district details from the Ontario Heritage Act Register and the Canadian Register of Historic Places. Neighbourhood histories from Wikipedia (Markham, Unionville, Milliken, Cornell, Cathedraltown).

Do you clean heritage homes on Main Street Unionville?

Yes. Unionville began in 1794 as farms on and around Kennedy Road, the year William Berczy brought the first settlers to Markham Township. Toogood Pond started as the mill pond for a grist mill in the 1840s. Since January 1998 the old village has been a heritage conservation district.

Tell us about any refinished floor. A first deep clean from $249 does baseboards, door frames and grout, and recurring visits from $129 keep it there.

Do you clean older houses in Markham Village?

Yes. Mennonite settlers from Pennsylvania founded Reesorville in the early 1800s, and it took the name Markham in 1825. Nicholas Miller built a saw and grist mill on the Rouge River in 1809, at what became Vinegar Hill. The Town made the old village a heritage conservation district in 1990, in three parts along Main Street: Vinegar Hill, Markham Village and Mount Joy.

Mount Joy is almost all mid-1800s Ontario Vernacular and farmhouse style. Most Vinegar Hill houses went up between 1940 and 1970. Tell us how many storeys and bathrooms the house has, and about any original floors.

Do you clean family homes in Milliken Mills and South Unionville?

Yes. Milliken Mills, the Markham side of Steeles Avenue, filled with houses from the 1970s to the late 1980s, mostly two-storey detached homes with garages. South Unionville, between Highway 7 and Highway 407, began in the 1990s.

A residential clean from $149 covers the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas and floors. Tell us the bathroom count and whether the basement is finished.

Do you clean newer homes in Cornell and Cathedraltown?

Yes. Cornell was designed in 1994 by Duany Plater-Zyberk as a new urbanist neighbourhood, and building began in 1997. It mixes townhomes, semis and detached houses, and most have the garage at the back. Cathedraltown, north of Major Mackenzie Drive, dates from 2006 and is named for the Cathedral of the Transfiguration, begun in 1984.

With the garage behind the house, tell us which door the crew should use and where to park. Moving into a house just finished? Post-construction cleanup clears the fine dust from vents, sills and fixtures and is priced by custom quote.

Where does Markham tap water come from?

Lake Ontario. The City of Markham's 2024 water quality report says Markham gets treated water through feeder mains from the City of Toronto and Peel Region. York Region lists Markham as fully on lake water, with no wells.

Peel's 2025 report puts the lake water it treats at 120 to 130 mg/L. White spots still build on shower glass and taps between visits. Every residential clean polishes mirrors and fixtures, and a deep clean scrubs grout and tile.

Do you clean the rest of York Region and the GTA?

Yes. Thornhill straddles Yonge Street and its east side is in Markham. We also have crews in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Newmarket and Toronto, and our office is in Guelph. Offices and shops can ask for a commercial cleaning quote. The full list of service areas covers all 20 cities.
